Indication for unsmooth horizon induced by quantum gravity interaction

چکیده

The angular ADM reduction of the BTZ spacetime yields a Liouvilletype theory. The analysis of the resulting Liouville theory naturally leads to identification of the stretched horizon. The dynamics associated with the stretched horizon has a feature that seems consistent with the unsmooth horizon; the quantum gravity effects are essential for the unsmoothness. We show that the “anomaly” term in the stressenergy tensor is responsible for the Planck scale energy experienced by an infalling observer.

Finite entanglement entropy from the zero-point area of spacetime

The calculation of entanglement entropy S of quantum fields in spacetimes with horizon shows that, quite generically, S is (a) proportional to the area A of the horizon and (b) divergent. I argue that this divergence, which arises even in the case of Rindler horizon in flat spacetime, is yet another indication of a deep connection between horizon thermodynamics and gravitational dynamics. In an...

Statistical Mechanics on Axially-symmetric Space-times with the Killing Horizon and Entropy of Rotating Black Holes in Induced Gravity

We develop a method for computing the free-energy of a canonical ensemble of quantum fields near the horizon of a rotating black hole. We show that the density of energy levels of a quantum field on a stationary background can be related to the density of levels of the same field on a fiducial static space-time. The effect of the rotation appears in the additional interaction of the ”static” fi...

Quantum gravity e ects at a black hole horizon

Quantum uctuations in the background geometry of a black hole are shown to aaect the propagation of matter states falling into the black hole in a foliation that corresponds to observations purely outside the horizon. A state that starts as a Minkowski vacuum at past null innnity gets entangled with the gravity sector, so that close to the horizon it can be represented by a statistical ensemble...

Bias-Induced Optical Absorption of Current Carrying Two-Orbital Quantum Dot with Strong Electron-Phonon Interaction (Polaron Regime)

The one photon absorption (OPA) cross section of a current carrying two-orbital quantum dot (QD) with strong electron-phonon interaction (polaron regime) is considered. Using the self-consistent non-equilibrium Hartree-Fock (HF) approximation, we determine the dependence of OPA cross section on the applied bias voltage, the strength of effective electron-electron interaction, and level spacing ...
